Featuring P.A.M.
The history of my glass art....
My husband, Paul, took me to a Chihuily exhibit at the K.I.A. a few years ago. I fell in love with his work. For years I have collected “pretty colored” glass.
I’ve always been an artist, working with paints and later photography. I enjoy creating things that I like. I took some classes at the K.I.A. with Joan Carver teaching. She is a wonderful teacher and let us try lots of things. Everytime we opened the kiln it felt like Christmas.
You never really know how the piece will look until its finished. I love to work with the bright colors and think my work is special, at least I enjoy each new piece.
I started making glass pendants to sell in order to pay for my “art”. I saved my money and sold my own jewelry so I could buy my own kiln.
I think Ms. Carver actually inspired me to go for it by giving me praise for the pieces i did in class. I really love this art form, and I’m not usually disappointed in what comes out of the kiln.
My name is Pamela Ann Mayer Retz. I always knew that someday people would know me as the artist, P.A.M.
